Technology Donations – Frequently Asked Questions

Will I receive a tax receipt?

Currently, House of Friendship is unable to provide a tax receipt for technology donations.

Where do I drop off donations?

You may drop off your devices at the following location:

  • House of Friendship - 236 Victoria St N #3a, Kitchener, ON N2H 5C8
What kinds of devices are you looking for?

We are currently accepting:

  • Laptops
  • Tablets
Are there any requirements for the devices you accept?

Yes. We ask that devices:

  • Are in working condition
  • Include their power cords

We are unable to accept broken or non-functional devices.

Can I donate desktop computers or accessories (e.g., keyboards, mice, monitors)?

At this time, we are focused on laptops and tablets due to space and mobility needs. If you have other technology you'd like to donate, please contact us first at saraha@houseoffriendship.org.

Will my data be erased from the device?

We strongly encourage donors to erase all personal data before donating. We will erase the devices before deploying them and will not be held responsible for any personal information left on the device.

How will my donated device be used?

Your donation will be used in our community centres by individuals and families who face barriers to accessing technology. These devices support education, job searching, social connection, and access to essential services.

Is there a deadline for donations?

There is no set deadline, but donations received before September 1, 2025 help us meet current community needs.

Can I make a monetary donation instead?

Absolutely. Financial contributions help us purchase new devices and accessories and support digital literacy programming. You can make a financial donation to the House of Friendship.

House of Friendship supports 7 community centres:
